Well-known anchor Zhang Quanling officially announced her resignation from China Central Television (CCTV) on her Weibo account Wednesday morning, saying "From now on, I am not a CCTV host anymore, because I want to have a new start in the later part of my life".

央视著名主持人张泉灵周三在个人微博上正式宣布辞职,文中写道:“今后,我的身份不再是央视主持人,因为生命的后半段,我想,重来一次”。

42-year-old Zhang explains that she was wrongly diagnosed as having lung cancer at the beginning of this year, and the false alarm prompted her to rethink about her life. She says she is going to enter the field of venture capital investment (风险投资)and serve as a partner for Purple Cow Fund.

Zhang began working at CCTV in 1997 as a reporter(记者), director(导演) and anchor(主持人) for "China Report". Since 2000 she has begun to host the most popular news programs like "Oriental Horizon"(东方时空), "Topics in Focus"(焦点访谈) and "People in the News"(人物周刊). She won the 11th Yangtze River & Taofen Journalism Award in 2010.

Zhang's departure is another example in the alleged "CCTV Resignation Tide"(央视辞职潮), following Lang Yongchun, a renowned anchor who reportedly quit CCTV's flagship news program Xinwen Lianbo (News Simulcast) last week.
