A new (新 xīn) species (物种 wùzhǒng) of the Asian horned toad has been identified in the city of Lishui, east China's Zhejiang Province, the municipal bureau of ecology and environment said on Tuesday.
Officially named Megophrys baishanzuensis (百山祖角蟾), it was discovered (发现 fāxiàn) in Baishanzu National Park in June last year during a biodiversity investigation (调查 diàochá) of the city.
The findings were published in a research article that appeared in the scientific journal ZooKeys.
