《闲居》
白居易

心足即为富,
身闲乃当贵。
富贵在此中,
何必居高位?

The poem can be literally translated as:
Wealth can be illurstated as being content; grace can be considered as being free. As wealth and grace are all included in it, why bother
being in a high position?
Bai Juyi (772–846) was a Chinese poet during the Tang Dynasty. Many of his poems concern his career or observations he made as a government official, including governor of three different provinces.
Burton Watson says of Bai Juyi: "He worked to develop a style that was simple and easy to understand, and posterity has requited his efforts by making him one of the most well-loved and widely read of all Chinese poets, both in his native land and in the other countries of the East that participate in the appreciation of Chinese culture."
Bai's works were also highly influential in the historical development of Japanese literature.
