Chinese President Xi Jinping has taken the opportunity to criticize those in Japan who would white-wash the history of Japanese aggression during its invasion of China. The President's comments have been made at a ceremony commemorating the start of the full-scale Japanese invasion of China 77-years ago.
7日上午，中国国家主席习近平出席了纪念全民族抗战爆发77周年仪式并发表重要讲话，指责日本有些人试图掩盖日本侵华历史。

The Chinese President said that no one can change(改变) history(历史) or truth(真相).

"History is history, truth is truth, and no one can change history or truth. The Chinese people who sacrificed(牺牲) too much will firmly defend(捍卫) the history written with our blood(鲜血) and lives(生命). If someone wants to deny(否认), bend(歪曲) or even glorify(美化) the history of aggression(侵略历史), the Chinese people and the people of the world will never tolerate(绝不容忍) this."

Meanwhile, Xi Jinping also stressed that throughout history all military aggression(军事侵略) has been doomed to fail(注定失败) and China will firmly stick to(坚持) the path of peaceful development(和平发展道路).

At least 35 million Chinese people were killed during the eight years of war that ended in 1945, the largest Asian war in the 20th century.
