Actor Huang Haibo Apologizes for Soliciting Sex

Renowned Chinese actor Huang Haibo apologized on Sunday for solicitation of prostitution last month, People's Daily reports.

The actor was detained for 15 days after being caught with a prostitute at a hotel in Beijing on May 16, 2014, and is being held at a penitentiary for a six-month re-education course.

Huang said he won't file for administrative review of the charges against him in the statement released via his Weibo account by his aide.

The actor added that he accepted any punishment that will be handed down to him and will try his best to make a fresh start.

Huang also begged for understanding from the public and hoped his experience can be taken as a lesson for others.

The 39-year-old actor is often referred to as "China's son-in-law," for portraying humble and lovable characters, such as his roles in hit television shows "Let's Get Married!" and "A Beautiful Daughter-in-Law."
