朱熹（1130.9.15-1200.4.23）字元晦，汉族，南宋江南东路徽州府婺源县（今江西省婺源）人。19岁进士及第，曾任荆湖南路安抚使，仕至宝文阁待制。为政期间，申敕令，惩奸吏，治绩显赫。南宋著名的理学家、思想家、哲学家、教育家、诗人，闽学派的代表人物，世称朱子，是孔子、孟子以来最杰出的弘扬儒学的大师。
Zhu Xi (Sep. 15th, 1130-Apr. 23rd, 1200) was of the Han nationality with his courtesy name Yuanhui. He was a native of Wuyuan County, Huizhou Prefecture, East Jiangnan Area (what is now Wuyuan in Jiangxi province) in the Southern Song Dynasty. At the age of 19, he passed the Dianshi (final imperial examination) and was one of the top three participants. He was the Anfushi (local governor) of South Jinhu Area, and then was the Daizhi (imperial attendant) of the Baowen Cabinet. During his reign, he executed edicts, punished treacherous officials and was known for his outstanding governance. He was the most famous Confucian, philosopher, thinker, educator and poet of the Southern Song Dynasty, and the representative of the Fujian School. Traditionally known as Zhuzi, he was the most outstanding master after Confucius and Mencius in promoting Confucianism.
