毕昇（又作毕晟，约970年-1051年），中国发明家，发明活字版印刷术。汉族，北宋淮南路蕲州蕲水县直河乡（今湖北省英山县草盘地镇五桂墩村）人，一说为浙江杭州人。初为印刷铺工人，专事手工印刷。毕昇发明了胶泥活字印刷术，被认为是世界上最早的活字印刷技术。宋朝的沈括所著的《梦溪笔谈》记载了毕昇的活字印刷术。
Bi Sheng (about 970-1051), was of the Han nationality, born in Zhihe Town, Qi Zhou, Huainan Area (what is now Wuguidun village, Caopandi town, Yingshan county, Hubei province, but some others referred his birth place to Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province). He was the great inventor of the movable type printing. He was first a worker at a printing shop, specializing in hand printing. He then invented daub printing which can be considered as the earliest printing technology in the world. His printing technology was recorded in Mengxi Bitan (Dream Pool Essays) written by Shen Kuo of the Song Dynasty.
