How to Say “Whatever” in Chinese

Every once in a while, it is inevitable to run into someone or something that really bothers you. If you feel overwhelmed or find it out of your control, maybe you should try an indifferent attitude, and just say to yourself, “Whatever! It doesn’t matter to me at all,” and let it go. Here, we will teach you some related Chinese expressions.

1 无所谓 wú suǒ wèi

Eg. 你怎么想我无所谓
Whatever you think is fine with me. / I don’t care what you think.

2 不在乎 bú zài hū

Eg. 我一点都不在乎
I don't care at all.

考试能不能及格,他不在乎
He doesn't give a damn whether he passes the exam or not.

3 随便你了/随你的便 suí biàn nǐ le /suí nǐ de biàn

Eg. 你不愿意参加我们的活动吗?好吧,随便你了
You don't want to join us? Well, suit yourself.

4 你定吧 nǐ dìng ba

Eg. 上不上课你定吧
Going to class or not, that’s up to you.

5  爱咋咋地 ài zǎ zǎ dì

Eg. 他总是这样自以为是,就让他爱咋咋地吧。
He is always arrogant, so just let him do whatever he wants.

6  管它呢 guǎn tā ne

Eg.我完全不知道怎么写报告,唉,管它呢
I have absolutely no idea how to write the report. Alas, whatever!
