A bad thing never dies.
Hǎorén bù chángshòu, huò hài yí qiānnián.
好人不长寿,祸害遗千年。

A bad workman always blames his tools.
Bèn gōngjiàng zǒngshì guài gōngjù chā.
笨工匠总是怪工具差。

A baited cat may grow as fierce as a lion.
Rén jí xuánliáng, gǒu jí tiàoqiáng.
人急悬梁,狗急跳墙。

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
liǎngniǎo zàilín bùrú yìniǎo zàishǒu.
两鸟在林不如一鸟在手。

A bully is always a coward.
Qīfù ruòxiǎo zhě yǒngyuǎn shì nuòfū.
欺负弱小者永远是懦夫。

A burnt child dreads the fire.
Yìzhāo bèi shé yǎo, shínián pà jǐngshéng.
一朝被蛇咬,十年怕井绳。

A cat has nine lives.
Māo yǒu jiǔ tiáo mìng (Bǐyù jírén zìyǒu tiānxiàng. )
猫有九条命(比喻吉人自有天相)

A cat may look at a king.
xiǎo rénwù yě yǒuxiē quánlì.
小人物也有些权利。

A clear conscience can bear any trouble.
Píngshí bú zuò kuīxīnshì, yè bàn qiāomén xīn bù jīng.
平时不做亏心事,夜半敲门心不惊。

A cook is bold on his own dunghill.
Gǒu zhàng rén shì.
狗仗人势。

A constant guest is never welcome.
Chángkè nán shòu huānyíng.
常客难受欢迎。

A contented mind is a perpetual feast.

明枪易躲,暗箭难防。

巨人肩上的侏儒看得远;借重他人的经验好处多。

Zhī cuò néng gǎi, shàn mò dà yān.
知错能改,善莫大焉。

Bèn rén nán jùcái.

Jiāngshān yìgǎi, běnxìng nányí.
江山易改,本性难移。

A liar is not believed when he tells the truth.
Cháng shuō huǎnghuà de rén jiù suàn shì shuō zhēnhuà yě méi rén xìn.
常说谎话的人就算是说真话也没人信。

A lion may come to be beholden to a mouse.
Qiángzhě yì yǒu qiúzhùyú ruòzhě de shíhòu.
强者亦有求助于弱者的时候。

A little fire burns up a great deal of corn.
Xīngxīng zhī huǒ kěyǐ liáoyuán.
星星之火可以燎原。

A little gall spoils a great deal of honey.

Yǒu jiànquán de shēntǐ, cái yǒu jiànquán de xīnzhì.
有健全的身体,才有健全的心智。

A still tongue makes a wise head.
Guǎ yán wéi zhì.
寡言为智。

A stitch in time saves nine.
jí shí xíng shì ,shì bàn gōng bèi 。
及时行事,事半功倍。

A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Měi de shìwù shì yǒnghéng de xǐyuè.
美的事物是永恒的喜悦。

A word is enough to the wise.
cōngmíngrén yìdiǎn jiù tōng.
聪明人一点就通。

A word spoken is past recalling.
Yìyán jì chū, sìmǎ nán zhuī.
一言既出,四马难追。

A young idler, an old beggar.
Shǎo zhuàng bù nǔlì, lǎo dà tú shāngbēi.
少壮不努力,老大徒伤悲。

A-day-old puppy doesn't know to be afraid of the tiger.
Chūshēng zhī dú bú wèi hǔ.
初生之犊不畏虎。

Able men are always busy.
Néng zhě duō láo.
能者多劳。

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Xiǎobié shèng xīnhūn.
小别胜新婚。

Accidents will happen in the best-regulated families.
Jiāguī zài yán yě nánmiǎn huì chū wèntí.
家规再严也难免会出问题。

According to your purse govern your mouth.
Liàngrù wéichū.
量入为出。

Actions speak louder than words.
Xíngdòng shèng yú kōngtán.
行动胜于空谈。

Advice when most needed is least heeded.
Zhōngyán nìěr.
忠言逆耳。

After a storm comes a calm.
Yǔ guò tiānqíng; pǐjí tài lái; kǔ jìn gān lái.
雨过天晴;否极泰来;苦尽甘来。

All are not thieves that dogs bark at.
Gǒu suǒfèi zhī rén wèibì jiē wéi zéi; wù yǐ mào qǔ rén.
狗所吠之人未必皆为贼;勿以貌取人。

All cats are grey in the dark.
Suǒyǒu de māo zài hēi’àn zhōng jiēwéi huīsè; měimào shì bú zhòngyào de.
所有的猫在黑暗中皆为灰色;美貌是不重要的。

All good things come to an end.
Tiānxià wú bú sàn de yànxí.
天下无不散的筵席。

Sì dà jiē kōng.
四大皆空。

Bù tīng lǎorén yán, chīkuī zài yǎnqián.
不听老人言,吃亏在眼前。

Any port is a good port in a storm.
Bàofēngyǔ zhōng, rènhé gǎngkǒu jiēshì hǎo de bìnánsuǒ.
暴风雨中,任何港口皆是好的避难所。

Anybody can make mistakes.
Rén fēi shèngxián, shú néng wúguò.
人非圣贤,熟能无过。

Appearances are deceptive.
Wàibiǎo qīrén; wù yǐ mào qǔrén.
外表欺人;勿以貌取人。

Art is long, life is short.
Rénshēng duǎnzàn, ér xuéwèn wúqióng.
人生短暂,而学问无穹。

As well be hanged for a sheep as a lamb.
Tōu xiǎoyáng yǔ tōu dàyáng tóng wéi jiǎoxíng; yī búzuò, èr bùxiū.
偷小羊与偷大羊同为绞刑;一不做,二不休。

As you brew, so you must drink.
Zìzuò zìshòu.
自作自受。

As you make your bed, so you must lie on it.
Zìjǐ zuòshì, zìjǐ dāng.
自己做事,自己当。

As you sow, so you shall reap.
Zhǒngguā dé guā, zhǒn dòu dé dòu 。
种瓜得瓜,种豆得豆。

Ask no questions and be told no lies.
Bú wèn wèntí jiù tīngbúdào jiǎhuà; xiǎo hái yǒu ěr wú zuǐ.
不问问题就听不到假话;小孩有耳无嘴。

Avoid a questioner, for he is also a tattler.
Bìmiǎn yǔ hào tànrén yǐnsī, bānnòng shìfēi zhī rén zài yìqǐ.
避免与好探人隐私,搬弄是非之人在一起。
