2009年09月21日 中国铁道部20号表示，预计从9月底到10月8号的11天期间，全国铁路将发送旅客6400万人次，同比增长9.3%。
10月1号至10月8号，是中国的国庆节和中秋节假期，而传统的中秋节又是合家团圆的日子。铁道部表示，10月1号将是一个客流最高峰，预计将发送旅客690万人次，这些旅客以探亲访友和旅游为主。面对双节期间突增的客流，铁道部计划每天增加临时旅客列车33对、图定延长列车2对，解决大中城市和重点旅游景区客流的需要。此外，铁道部每天还将安排直通旅游列车39对，同比增加2对，重点解决至张家界、桂林、深圳、昆明等旅游城市客流的需要。
2009-09-21 The Ministry of Railways said on Sunday (Sept. 20) that it is expecting ab0ut 64 million people to travel by train during a 11-day period from the end of this month till Oct. 8, an increase of 9.3 percent over the same period last year.
Chinese will enjoy eight days off, from Oct. 1 to Oct. 8, for the National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival, the latter a traditional occasion dedicated to family reunio.
The ministry said Oct. 1 would embrace a peak of 6.9 million passengers, who are either visiting families and friends or touring around the country.
The ministry is planning to arrange 33 pairs of additional passenger trains a day on the existing service routes for major cities and tourist sites and extend the service routes of two pairs of trains daily to meet the extra demand during the period. The ministry would also arrange 39 pairs of additional trains every day to hot tourist destinations such as cities of Zhangjiajie, Guilin, Shenzhen and Kunming, two pairs more than th esame period last year.
