施耐庵,元末明初的文学家,本名彦端,祖籍是泰州海陵县或苏州吴县阊门(今江苏苏州),博古通今,才气横溢,举凡群经诸子,词章诗歌,天文、地理、医卜、星象等,一切技术无不精通,35岁曾中进士,后弃官归里,闭门著述,与拜他为师的罗贯中一起研究《三国演义》《三遂平妖传》的创作,搜集整理关于梁山泊宋江等英雄人物的故事,最终写成"四大名著"之一的《水浒传》。
Shi Nai'an, also known as Yanduan, was a native of Hailing county of Taizhou or Changmen, Wu county, Suzhou (now Suzhou city, Jiangsu province). He was an author in the Late Yuan Dynasty and the early Ming Dynasty. He was versatile and talented, being familiar with classics and masters both in modern times and ancient times. He also was familiar with poems, prose, astronomy, geography, medicine and aspect astrology, etc.. At the age of 35, he passed the imperial examination and was selected as Jinshi, but later he gave up the official title and returned back to his hometown. There he created his works and together with his disciple Luo Guanzhong, he studied the writing of Sanguo Yanyi (Romance of the Three Kingdoms) and Sansui Pingyao Zhuan (Taming Devils). After collecting the stories of the heroes of Liangshan Po such as Song Jiang, he finally completed the writing of Shuihu Zhuan (Water Margin), one of the "Four Chinese Classic Novels".
