七旬老太竟是卖淫女
中国网消息,广西桂平市警方日前捣毁了一个农村的卖淫窝点,该窝点专门招揽老年男子嫖 娼。卖淫活动的组织者是名75岁的老汉。而卖淫女中,有一位竟有70岁高龄,这名老妪已有10年卖淫史。因嫖客经济拮据,卖淫女每次仅收取12元。警方 称,嫖客基本上都是农村的“空巢老人”。因为缺乏伴侣和娱乐活动,他们往往挡不住卖淫女的诱惑。

Wuhan Jiangxia District No.2 Middle School has begun displaying posters of 12 hairstyles considered inappropriate for students, Wuhan Evening News reports. The poster tags the hairstyles with easy-to-remember names, such as "the old lady" and "the penniless tramp." School authorities said the pictures are intended to spread the message that students should observe proper dress codes.
China sets up two Ivy Leagues
China's top universities have formed two leagues that will operate their own entrance examinations, bypassing the state-run exam, the Beijing Morning Post reports. Peking University heads a league that includes Beijing University of Aerospace and Aeronautics, Beijing Normal University, Nankai University, Fudan University, Xiamen University and Hong Kong University, while Tsinghua University has set up a separate league of seven, including Renmin University of China, Nanjing University and Zhejiang University.
Woman, 70, found selling sex
Police in Guiping City, Guangxi, have broken a rural sex trade ring specially set up to cater to the needs of older men, China.org.cn reports. The organizer was a 75-year-old man and among the prostitutes was a 70-year-old woman who had been selling sex for 10 years. Prices were very low -- as little as 12 yuan a time -- reflecting the poverty of the clients who, police say, were mainly elderly men living alone. Lacking any companionship or recreation they could not resist the temptation of the prostitutes.
Legendary pearl on display
Possibly the biggest pearl is on display at Baoyu Palace in Wenchang City, Hainan Province, the Southern Metropolis Daily reports. The legendary luminous pearl, which is about 1.6 meters in diameter and weighs six tons, is estimated to be worth 2 billion yuan.
Selina facing challenging recovery
It's been one month since Taiwan pop star Selina suffered third-degree burns during a filming accident. Sunday her company, HIM International, revealed that she received burns to 54% of her body -- much worse than what was previously reported. She has received two phases of skin grafting, and it will take her at least one year to recover, Sina reports. It's estimated that her lost earnings are more than 20 million yuan.
