To avoid being late for school in the morning, a six-year-old boy in Yunnan province chose to go to school the night before because his family can't afford an alarm clock.
Xing Yu is a second-year pupil at a primary school in Tonghai county, Yuxi city, Yunnan province. His mother left home several years ago, and Xing lives with his father and sister in a tiny house three kilometers from the school.
On Monday night, the boy was at home alone while his father worked a night shift and his sister was away.
Having no alarm clock, the boy decided to go to school that night. He left home at about 10 pm, with his textbooks in a plastic bag.
He had been on the street for about four hours before a villager spotted him. The villager thought the boy might have been driven out by his parents, so he called the local police.
A police officer gave an alarm clock as a gift to Xing Yu on Wednesday.
