A UNIVERSITY student was beheaded by steel wires used to help anchor a utility pole as he was riding a scooter drunk, accompanied by other students, at midnight in Yulin City in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, police said.
The accident occurred last Saturday when the 21-year-old surnamed Ma, a student at Yulin Normal University, was riding a scooter near a worksite after he drank beers in a party with his classmates, Nanguo Morning Post reported.
No one saw Ma being beheaded. Another rider surnamed Xie who was passing by several minutes later was the first to find Ma’s headless body on the ground. In surrounding area, Xie found a bloody head.
An initial police investigation found that a steel wire, which ran from the top of utility pole to the ground, severed Ma’s head. The newspaper found that scooter riders were at high risk when they passed under the steel wire.
Ma’s family rushed to Yulin from their hometown in east China’s Shandong Province after his death.
