Ruguo 如果- Daily Mandarin Lesson

The Mandarin word for "if” is rúguǒ, made up of two characters: 如果. The first character 如 (rú) means "as if” or “such as,” and the second character 果 (guǒ) means “fruit.”

    Rúguǒ wǎnshang xiàyǔ wǒ jiù bú qù kàn diànyǐng.
    如果晚上下雨我就不去看電影｡

    If it rains this evening, I won’t go to the movies.
