Cam:  Yes, we are, Yajie.Let’s check key words of the day.

Key Words of the Day
Everything is 30% off.  所有商品一律七折。（suo3you3 shang1pin3 yi2lv4 qi1zhe2.）All these are on sale. 这些都打折。(zhe4xie1 dou1 da3zhe2.) Please pay at the cashier’s. 请到款台交钱。(qing3 dao4 kuan3tai3 jiao1 qian2.) Can you wrap it up for me? 能帮我包起来吗？(neng2 bang1 wo3 bao1 qi3lai2 ma?) All in today’s Chinese Studio.

Cam: So, when shopping I hear the salesperson say “所有商品一律七折。（suo3you3 shang1pin3 yi2lv4 qi1zhe2.） I guess it means “Everything is 30% off.”Am I right?
YJ: Wow, Cam, you are quite a genius. 所有商品一律七折。（suo3you3 shang1pin3 yi2lv4 qi1zhe2）. 所有（suo3you3) means all， everything.
Cam: 所有（suo3you3)
YJ: 商品 (shang1pin3), commodity.
Cam: 商品 (shang1pin3).
YJ: 一律 (yi2lv4) means each and all, without exception.
Cam: 一律(yi2lv4)
YJ: 七折(qi1zhe2) means charge 70 percent of the original price, or 30% off.
Cam: 七折(qi1zhe2). So折(zhe2) is discount in English. Yes?
YJ: Right. 所有商品一律七折。（suo3you3 shang1pin3 yi2lv4 qi1zhe2.）Everything is 30% off.
Cam: 所有商品一律七折。（suo3you3 shang1pin3 yi2lv4 qi1zhe2.）

YJ: Cam, you may also hear this “这些都打折。(zhe4xie1 dou1 da3zhe2.)”, which means “All these are on sale”.
Cam: 这些都打折。(zhe4xie1 dou1 da3zhe2.)
YJ: 这些 (zhe4xie1), all these commodities. 
Cam: 这些 (zhe4xie1).
YJ: 都 (dou1) means all.
Cam: 都 (dou1)
YJ: 打折 (da3zhe2) means “on sale or sell at discount”
YJ: 这些都打折。(zhe4xie1 dou1 da3zhe2.)

YJ: It means “Please pay at the cashier’s.”
Cam: I see, so it's not free. 请 (qing3) means please. 
YJ: 到 (dao4), to go to.

YJ: 款台 (kuan3tai3), the cashier’s.
Cam: 款台 (kuan3tai3
YJ: 交钱 (jiao1 qian2), to pay for it.
Cam: 交钱(jiao1 qian2).
YJ: 请到款台交钱。(qing3 dao4 kuan3tai3 jiao1 qian2.) Please pay at the cashier’s.

YJ: Now, If you want to wrap up what you’ve bought, you may ask in this way: 能帮我包起来吗？(neng2 bang1 wo3 bao1 qi3lai2 ma?)
Cam: 能帮我包起来吗？(neng2 bang1 wo3 bao1 qi3lai2 m a?)
YJ: 能(neng2) means could.
Cam: 能(neng2)
YJ: 帮 (bang1), to help.
Cam: 帮 (bang1).
YJ: 我 (wo3) means I.
Cam: 我 (wo3)
YJ: 包起来(bao1 qi3lai2), to wrap something up.
Cam: 包起来(bao1 qi3lai2)
