Golden Week Promotes Tourism

More than 29 million tourists(游客) around the country have generated(产生) a total of 1.5 billion yuan ($236.3 million USD) in revenue(收入), and that’s only the ticket fare(门票收入).

According to（根据) numbers released(发布) by 15 provincial tourism administrations(省级旅游部门), tourism revenue of Shandong province has reached(达到) more than 39.2 billion yuan ($6.2 billion USD), ranking first(排第一) among these 15 provinces. But when it comes to actual visitors(实际访客), Southwest China’s Sichuan province takes the crown(夺冠), hitting a record high(创历史新高) of 53.4 million.

As for why Shandong province tops the tourism revenue chart, Chinese netizens can’t help but associate it with the “pricey prawns”(高价虾) that are overcharged with 38 yuan ($6 USD) EACH at seafood restaurants(海鲜餐馆) in the coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong.
