小杰：这儿景色真好，就像世外……什么来着？

表姐：就像世外桃源一样。

小杰：对对对，老师刚教的。哎，姑姑，我刚才还看到那边有很多老人在运动。

表姐：可不是，老年人比年轻人更热衷于锻炼身体。再说，这儿空气又好、风景又美，是个锻炼的好地方。

小杰：我听爸爸说秋天的香山最美.

表姐：其实香山一年四季都不错。冬天下了雪就更漂亮了，“西山晴雪”还是有名的景观呢。

小杰：是吗，我都等不及啦。到时候，您一定带我来看看。

表姐：没问题，保证让你一饱眼福。

小杰：太好啦！姑姑，今天咱们一起爬上去怎么样？

表姐：好，那咱们就爬上去，难得一个锻炼身体的好机会。

小杰：姑姑，快点儿快点儿！您太慢啦，我在上面等您吧。

表姐：怎么了，小杰？

小杰：我的脚…..崴了。

表姐：快让我看看，试试能不能动。

小杰：哎唷，不行不行，太疼了。

表姐：试试能慢慢站走来吗？

小杰：这只脚不敢沾地。

表姐：你先坐在这儿，我给急救中心打个电话。

表姐：医生马上就到了。我看看你的脚，哎呀肿了，晚上肯定会肿得更厉害。

小杰：姑姑，我现在觉得越来越疼了。

表姐：小杰，医生来啦！

医生：您好。怎么样？伤得重不重？

表姐：大夫，她的脚崴了。

医生：别着急，让我检查一下。

医生：（对表姐）从目前的情况看，问题不大，我先给她处理一下。

表姐：那她一会儿可以自己走吗？

医生：恐怕不行。你们应该先去医院，即便没有多大的问题，也得去医院检查一下儿。

Translation

Western Hills of Beijing

The Western Hills of Beijing are a popular recreation destination. Because of the relative coolness in summer, this area has always been used as a retreat by high officials and nobility. The most popular area of the hills is 香山, the Fragrant Hills, located just west of the Summer Palace. This area is most famous for the dramatic red colours of Fall, but as was explained in the dialogue, there is something to see all year round. A cable car will take you to the top of the hill if you’re not interested in the exercise.

While near the Fragrant Hills, you might want to visit 碧云寺 the Azure Clouds temple, with it’s striking dagoba and stupas it has a rather Indian feel to it. This is also the place wher Sun Yat-sen, the founder of the Republic of China in 1911 was briefly interred after he died and before his eventual resting place, the Zhong Shan Mausoleum near Nanjing, was completed.

One important detail to note is that at many tourist destinations, accident insurance is often included with the ticket. In the case of Xuemei’s accident today, she should be covered by this insurance. Of course, it’s always best to have your own comprehensive insurance coverage.
