Mandarin reading class is one that requires high of students’ vocabulary and literacy of mandarin words, and those vocabulary met in the reading process not only include daily used words, but also some written used ones, these words are the first barrier in the process of learning reading comprehension, if students still have problems in study mandarin comprehension, and do not understand the meaning of the words, much less to mention the mastery of the whole passage, but we found that in the process of teaching mandarin, even if the teacher has taught students the methods of guessing the meaning of the words they do not know.
But to middle level overseas students, it is still very difficult for them to guessing the meaning of the words, and vocabulary is still their biggest difficulty during reading, and reading comprehension part has been one of the biggest difficulty for them to pass in the exam of HSK, to teachers of teaching mandarin, getting rid of the comprehension barrier, and speed up students’ reading, moreover, improving students’ reading level is the basis for learning mandarin well, especially when students’ mandarin level is still in the state of low level.
The difficulties of overseas students in terms of vocabulary lie in the following two aspects, the first one is little vocabulary, the second one is their poor understanding, mandarin words expressing meaning are quite different from their mother tongue when they study mandarin, it is quite difficult for them to understand the meaning of the words from the form of the words.
