M: Plus a few new things.

S: Yesterday we learnt a lot.

M: 昨天我们学得很多 zuótiān wǒmen xuéde hěn duō.

S: Yesterday I ate a lot.

M: 昨天 Stuart 吃了很多 zuótiān Stuart chile hěn duō.

S: So did you! 你也吃了很多 nǐ yě chīle hěnduō.

M: Not true, 不对，昨天我吃得很少 zuótiān wǒ chīde hěn shǎo.

S: 我不同意， 昨天你吃了很多 zuótiān nǐchīle hěnduō!

M: 不对， 昨天我吃得很少zuótiān wǒ chīde hěn shǎo.

S: Hěnduō

M: Hěn shǎo.

S: Just joking, people.

M: We weren't really arguing.

S: Now, can you guys at home say, ‘yesterday evening I drank too much beer'? Pretend you're hungover.

M: Duìle. 昨天晚上我喝了太多啤酒。zuótiān wǎnshàng wǒ hēle tài duō píjiǔ.

S: Now say, but, dàn shì, the day before yesterday I drank very little.

M: Duì le! 但是，前天我喝得很少dàn shì, qiántiān wǒ hēde hěn shǎo.

S: Remember how to say ‘the day after tomorrow'?

M: Duì le. 后天 hòu tiān.

S: Now say, ‘we'll go see a movie the day after tomorrow'.

M: Hěn hǎo. 后天我们去看电影hòu tiān, wǒmen qù kàn diànyǐng.

S: Is the treat on you? 你请客吗 nǐ qǐng kè ma?

M: 是的，我请客 shìde, wǒ qǐngke.

S: Nǐ qǐng kè. Nà hén hǎo.

S: ML qǐng kè. Wó hěn gāoxìng!

M: Wǒ qǐng kè. 请QING qǐng, 3rd tone, ‘please', or ‘to invite', qǐng.

S: And 客 KE kè, 4th tone, kè, means ‘guest'.

M: So can you guess what 我请客 wǒ qǐng kè, means?

S: Duìle. Something like, ‘it's on me', ‘be my guest', ‘I'm paying' .

M: I've never heard Stuart say wǒ qǐng kè. But why don't you guys at home say it. Wǒ qǐng kè, wǒ qǐng kè.

S: 我生气了 wǒ shēngqìle.

M: Stuart, I'm joking 我在开玩笑 wǒ zài kāiwánxiao!

S: I know. 我知道wǒ zhīdào. But, time flies. How do you say ‘what time start'?

M: Duì le. 几点开始 jí diǎn kāishǐ?

S: Now say, ‘Five to seven'

M: Duìle. 七点差五分 qī diǎn chà wǔ fēn.

S: Now say, ‘5 to 6'.

M: Hěnhǎo. 六点差五分 liǔ diǎn chà wǔ fēn.

S: One more. 10 to 11.

M: Fēichánghǎo. 十一点差十分 shí yī diǎn chà shí fēn.

S: Hěn hǎo.

S: Time for date practice. Pretend it's May 0th, and answer the questions. 今天是几号？Jīntiān shì jǐ hào?

M: Duìle. 今天是五月二十号 jīntiān shi wǔyuè èr shí hào.

S: Míngtiān shì jǐ hào?

M: Méi cuò! Míng tiān shì èr shí yī hao, wǔyuè èr shí yī hào.

S: Hòutiān shì jǐ hào?

M: Hòutiān shìwǔ yuè èr shí èr hào.

S: Hěn hǎo. Now we can all xiàkè. ML, nǐ tóngyì bù tóngyì?

M: Wǒ tóngyì.

S: Hǎo. Wǒmen chī fàn qù. Wǒ qǐngkè.
