Twin Sisters 姊妹花(1934)

The film is the representative masterpiece of the later works of Zheng Zhengqiu. It tells the story about a pair of twin sisters.

In terms of art, the film presents the consistent creative features of Zheng Zhengqiu: the plot is complicated yet refined; the characters of the figures are depicted to niceties; and the story is easy to understand. Hu Die, a celebrated film star of that time, gave real and vivid performance in the film, and the film was considered her most successful work. After its release, the film shocked the film circles of China, and attracted interests of foreign audiences. It was on show for more than 60 days successively in Shanghai, which was unprecedented in grandeur.
