(单词翻译:双击或拖选)
重阳的饮食之风,除饮茱萸、菊花酒,吃菊花食品之外,还有就是吃重阳糕了。因为糕与高谐音,吃糕是为了取吉祥之意义,因而才受到人们的青睐。
In addition to wearing dogwood sprigs, drinking chrysanthemum wine and eating chrysanthemum food, the diet custom of the Double Ninth Festival also includes eating the Double Ninth cake. Since cake (pronounced Gao in Chinese) is a homophonic word of high (also pronounced Gao in Chinese), eating cake implies an auspicious meaning, and thus it is well received by people.
重阳糕又称花糕、菊糕、五色糕,制作方法较为随意,有“糙花糕”、“细花糕”和“金钱花糕”。而比较讲究的重阳糕要做成九层,像座宝塔,上面还做成两只小羊,以符合重阳(羊)之义。当今的重阳糕,仍无固定品种,各地在重阳节吃的松软糕类都称之为重阳糕。
The Double Ninth cake is also known as flower cake, chrysanthemum cake and five-color cake. The method to make Double Ninth cake is varied, including the “brown rice cake”, the “fine flower cake” and the “coin-like flower cake”. The exquisite Double Ninth cake has nine tiers, like a pagoda, with two sheep on the top, which accords with the meaning of Double Yang (which has the same pronunciation as sheep in Chinese). The present Double Ninth cake still has no fixed type, there are many different kinds. All mellow and soft cakes people eat on the Double Ninth Festival are called Double Ninth cakes.
