Pre-Qin 先秦 Mencius 孟子

孟子（前372年-前289年），名轲。战国时期鲁国人，中国古代著名思想家、教育家，战国时期儒家代表人物。著有《孟子》一书。孟子继承并发扬了孔子的思想，成为仅次于孔子的一代儒家宗师，有"亚圣"之称，与孔子合称为"孔孟"。
Mencius (372 BC-289 BC), also known by his given name Ke, was born in the State of Lu. He was a famous Chinese philosopher, educator and one of the principal interpreters of Confucianism. He is said to have authored a book called Mencius. He inherited and promoted the ideology of Confucius, and then became the most famous Confucian after Confucius. He was lauded as the "Second Sage" while he and Confucius are called "Confucius and Mencius".
