北京位列中国城市综合发展榜首

Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen are the three highest ranked cities in China's Comprehensive Development City Index for 2017(《中国城市综合发展指标2017》), reports Beijing Daily.

The index(指标) is the product(产物) of collaboration between the National Development and Reform Commission and the Beijing Cloud River Urban Research Institute. The index ranks cities by assessing(评估) a range of development indicators that affect(影响) quality of life(生活质量).

Beijing was the top ranked city on the index. As the country's capital(首都), the city has advantages(优势) when it comes to access to a range of services. Beijing also has a rich(丰富的) history(历史) and culture(文化) that contributes to the quality of life in the city.

Shanghai came second in the rankings, thanks to factors(因素) including the quality of the city's economy(经济) and its built environment(环境). And Shenzhen takes the third spot because of its environment, economy, and society(社会).
