"Shaolin" is the most(最) popular(受欢迎的) Chinese words for people from eight English-speaking countries, according to a survey(问卷) released(发布) by China International Publishing Group (CIPG).
According to the report at cankaoxiaoxi.com, among the top 100 Chinese words, over 40 percent relate(相关) to traditional Chinese culture(中国传统文化), such as Wushu(武术), a type of martial arts, Qigong(气功), and Yin-Yang(阴阳).
"Dumpling(饺子)" is the most well-known Chinese food(食物) for people from the English speaking countries surveyed, with "jiaozi" even appearing in the latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary.
Chunjie(春节), the Chinese word for Spring Festival, was the number one Chinese word searched online by people outside China. Other words related to Spring Festival also caught the attention of foreign netizens. These words include Hongbao(红包), the red envelopes stuffed with cash(现金) given as gifts during the holiday, Chunyun(春运), the Spring Festival holiday travel rush, and Chunwan(春晚), the Spring Festival gala.
