湖北至重庆新高速路通车 New highway linking Hubei and Chongqing opens to traffic

After almost 3 years of construction(建设), the Wanli highway(高速公路) linking(连接) two mountainous areas(山区) in central and southwest China opened(开通) on Tuesday. The highway reduces(减少) the journey(行程) from 3 hours to just 40 minutes, and hopes to promote tourism and develop commerce in the areas this 96 km long highway passes(通过) through.

The Lichuan-Wanzhou highway, or the Wanli highway, linking Lichuan(利川) City of central China's Hubei Province and Wanzhou(万州) District of southwest China's Chongqing, with a speed limit(限速) of 80 kph began construction in 2014. The 52-kilometer-long Chongqing section was finished in 2016.
