The "Sports Collection Exhibition" will display memorabilia from previous Winter Olympic Games, such as torches (火炬 huǒjù), medals (奖牌 jiǎngpái), mascot badges (徽章 huīzhāng), and tickets (门票 ménpiào). It offers a glimpse into the development of the Winter Olympics and Chinese winter sports.
There is a section of the exhibition dedicated to images of women who have participated in various sports (运动 yùndòng). In the illustrations, these young girls with big wavy hair are seen wearing sportswear and participating in skating, equestrian, swimming, rowing, tennis, basketball, swinging and cycling. They have bright smiles on their faces as they play.
Pictures of Chinese women who do sports gradually started to appear in newspapers and magazines, as well as on posters. This demonstrates how the traditional Chinese women were turning to the pursuit (追求 zhuīqiú) of healthy bodies, independence, and self-confidence in the new era.
The activities lasts until September 27.
