China is opening the world's largest radio telescope to global scientists

 China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), the world's largest single-dish radio telescope (望远镜 wàngyuǎnjìng), opens to global scientists (科学家 kēxuéjiā) and accept observation (观测 guāncè) applications (申请 shēnqǐng) from astronomers starting today.

 

The observatory has taken on extra importance following the collapse of the famed Arecibo telescope in Puerto Rico last year.
