Cam: “您去哪儿?(nin2 qu4 na3er)” means “Where would you like to go?” in English? Right?
YJ: Yes. You got it. “您去哪儿?(nin2 qu4 na3er), Where would you like to go?
Cam: And the answer could be 去 plus the name of the destination.
YJ: yes. For instance, if you want to go to Chaoyang Park, you may say去朝阳公园(qù Cháoyáng Gōngyuán) or just 朝阳公园 for short.
Cam: So, how do you say “how long will it take to get there” ?
YJ: Well, you may say it in this way: 去那儿多长时间?(qù nàr duō cháng shíjiān)
YJ: 去那儿(qù nàr),means to go there.
Cam: Right, 去那儿(qù nàr).
YJ: And 多长(duō cháng) 时间(shíjiān)means how long.
Cam: 去那儿多长时间?(qù nàr duō cháng shíjiān), “how long will it take to get there” ?

YJ: We also learned “Please turn right” in Chinese. So Cam, do you still remember that?
Cam: I sure do, I have to use it everyday. It’s 请右拐(qǐng yòu guǎi). Right in Chinese is 右, y-o-u, the fourth tone. And turn is 拐 (guǎi), g-u-a-i, the third tone.
YJ: Then how do you say “please turn left”.
Cam: Well, that would be 请左拐(qǐng zuǒ guǎi). left is左, the third tone.
YJ: Great. And then how about “please go straight”?
Cam: 请直走(qǐng zhí zǒu).
YJ: Very great! It’s 请直走(qǐng zhí zǒu). 直(zhí) means straight. And 走(zǒu) means go.
Conversation2:
YJ: Well, after you’ve arrived, you may say 请(qing) means please, and 停(ting2),stop, 这儿(zher4)means here 请停这儿(qing3 ting2 zher4). Please stop here.
YJ: When you pay for it, you may say 多少钱?(duōshao qián) How much is it?
Cam: I'm an expert of that, 多少钱?(duōshao qián)
YJ: Also if you need the receipt, you can say我要发票。(wǒ yào fāpiào).
(wǒ yào fāpiào). 要(yào) means need or want, and 发票(fāpiào) means receipt.
