Y: Yeah. This week we mainly focused on numbers and some sentences related to numbers. Let’s review.

First we learned 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and 10. And sentences: 4口人,7本书,and 10点。

Y: Cam do you still remember how to say the numbers from zero to ten in Chinese?
C: I sure do. They are 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 (All in Chinese).
Y: Great! Again, 0 is líng, 1 is yī, 2 is èr, 3 is sān, 4 is sì, 5 is wǔ, 6 is liù, 7 is qī, 8 is bā, 9 is jiǔ, and 10 is shí. Let’s do it again.
Y&C: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 (in Chinese).
Y: Also during the week we learned that口can be a measure word for people, and 人 means people. So we can say 4口人. And本 is a measure word for books; 书 means book. So 6本书 means 6 books. 点 means o’clock, and 10点 means 10 o’clock.

We also learned numbers from 11 to 100. 19 is shíjiǔ, 47 is sìshíqī, 82 is bāshí’èr and 100 is yìbǎi. And also 我25岁,我 31岁。

Y: Cam, remember how to read double figures in Chinese?
C: That’s a bit complicated.
Y: Read the number on the ten’s place first, add shí after that, and then the number on the unit’s place. For example: 38 is sānshíbā.
Y: 62 is liùshíèr
C: 62 is liùshíèr
Y: 95 is jiǔshíwǔ.
C: jiǔshíwǔ.
Y: Yeah. And if it is a number between 10 and 20 you can just say “shi ”and then the number. 11 is shíyī; 14 is shísì and 17 is shíqī
C: shíyī shísì shíqī. And 100 is…
Y: yì bǎǐ
C: yìbǎǐ
Y: We have another word which means year: 岁
C: Right. 我28岁。I’m 28 years old.
