An Exhibition of Qian Songyan’s Paintings Opens at Shanxi Museum

An exhibition of Qian Songyan’s Paintings has opened at Shanxi Museum in the city of Taiyuan in north China's Shanxi province. The exhibition will last till May 5, 2013. Visitors can get free admission tickets at the entrance to the museum.
Qian Songyan donated over 100 paintings to Wuxi Museum when he was alive. The exhibition to come will display 80 of them so that the audience will have a stroll in the artistic world created by Qian Songyan and experience at a closer distance the revolution and development of Chinese landscape painting in the 20th century. It is believed that Qian’s life of incredible diligence and his persevering artistic spirit will sure also give the audience great inspiration and instruction.Qian Songyan (1899-1985), born in Jiangsu, was one of the representative figures in the circles of modern Chinese landscape painting. He brought to Chinese landscape painting a brand new look together with other painters such as Fu Baoshi and made great contribution to the Chinese painting circles in the latter half of the 20th century as well as the formation of New Jinling Painting Style.

 钱松喦生前曾将百余幅作品捐献给无锡博物院，本次展览精选其80件书画作品，期冀观众们在徜徉钱松喦的艺术世界之余，近距离地感受和思考20世纪中国山水画所经历的变革与发展，而品读、探索钱松喦终其一生勤奋的创作态度和老而弥坚的艺术精神，则更会给予我们莫大的启迪和教益。
钱松喦（1899～1985），江苏人，是现代中国山水画的代表人物之一，和傅抱石等画家一起开创出中国山水画的崭新风貌，为20世纪后半叶的中国画坛和“新金陵画派”的创建做出了巨大贡献。
