There are numerous Benefits of Qigong(气功). Qigong(气功) is a kind of exercise and meditation that help us to stay healthy both physically and mentally by improving our life-force cultivation. Benefits of Qigong have been experienced directly by many centuries of Chinese qigong practitioners and, more recently, have attracted scientific studies around world. More and more people worldwide now are learning and practicing Qigong.

According to Qigong(气功), the health of our body is dependent upon a balanced flow of Qi(气) through the meridian system. The benefits(好处) of qigong practice extend to every physical system of our bodies, as well as to the mental health including emotional and spiritual aspects of our well being.

Physical Benefits Of Qigong Practice

Qigong practice makes our body strong. It improves balance, stamina and flexibility. It has positive effects on our health. Medical research suggests that our cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, endocrine, immune and central nervous systems benefit from qigong practice. In addition, many qigong practitioners report that by practicing qigong their skin becomes better, and they have a pleasant feeling of deeper warmth within the body. Qigong also helps us sleep better by having deeper and more restorative sleep because it helps us find the deeper relaxation and mental quiet necessary for sleep. Over time, qigong practice can reduce or eliminate chronic pain. It also has the power to reverse the aging process, and restore youthfulness.

Mental Benefits Of Qigong Practice

Qigong helps us to relax, generate mental stillness, and release stress. It also nourishes both intuition and creativity as our intelligence becomes rooted in a connection to the inner body. The smooth and balanced flow of Qi created by qigong practice shows itself as a joyful, relaxed, optimistic and energized state of mind. Correct and moderate qigong practice usually creates an optimistic and joyous disposition. Qigong creates clear and tranquil mind, and helps us to think and make better decisions.

Qigong is a Kind of Exercise with Meditation

Brain activity fluctuates in four known categories of brain wave patterns: beta, alpha, theta and delta patterns of consciousness. Although all four patterns are usually present to some degree, however, when we are at our most alert conscious state, beta brain wave patterns are predominant in our brain wave activity. Meditation will slow the brain wave pattern until alpha brainwaves become the dominant pattern of consciousness. This alpha brain wave pattern is indicative of our most relaxed waking state, when we experience less stress and therefore are at our best state for learning, memory retention, as well as the performance of other mental tasks.

    • Qigong is a great stress-reliever.

Qigong provides inner peace and a sense of calm, so helps us relax and release stress.

    • Qigong increases intelligence.

Numerous research studies have shown that any form of yogic meditation has a direct positive effect on intelligence because meditation increases neural pathways created in both hemispheres of the brain, resulting in what is known as “whole-brain functioning,” which enhances intuition, creativity, and learning ability.

    • Qigong builds will power and concentration.

In qigong, we use yi consciousness, which is a combination of subconscious conditioning, visualization, concentration and focused intent, to guide and circulate our Qi energy. With practice, it becomes relatively easy to concentrate. This will power and ability to focus can be applied to almost any activity in addition to qigong.

    • Qigong builds wisdom from reflection.

Qigong helps us concentrate, so it can deepen our thinking. Prolonged contemplation or self-reflection will give our brain the chance to absorb and process experiential data and to apply it back into real world situations.

    • Qigong can be used for self-defense.

Qigong itself is not necessarily a martial art but it is called Neigong in Chinese because it cultivates Qi energy that can be used in martial arts. Tai chi chuan (also phonetically spelled taijiquan), which is a kind of Qigong style, is essentially martial arts, although contemporary tai chi is focusing on better health without the aspects of self-defense application.

    • Qigong has low cost.

Compared to other sports, to practice qigong, you do not need any equipment and special space. Although it is recommended that you practice outdoors so you can benefit from the fresh air, you can practice qigong almost anywher, because so little space is required.

    • Qigong is easy to learn.

Qigong styles range from the very simple five-minute exercises to very lengthy sets that can take more than hours to complete. However, for the most part, the movements are very easy to learn, remember and perform because the sets are usually repetitive.

To Gain the Benefits, You Must Learn and Practice
