China's top securities regulator vowed last Thursday to strengthen law enforcement as part of the move to reform the nation's scandal-ridden capital markets.

However, Xiao Gang, head of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, says the CSRC's law enforcement work is "challenging". The agency investigates about 110 cases every year, but less than 60 cases end with the imposition of penalties, and about 30 of those are ultimately referred for criminal investigation. More than half of the cases end with no further action.

Famous pop singer Han Hong has apologized through different channels to the public, about her most recent traffic violations. But it seems the public is still not satisfied. Han was stopped by police on Saturday during a routine inspection for using the license plate of another car on her Land Rover. She was later fined 5,000 yuan for the license plate misappropriation.
