Yunnan Pu'er tea is a famous tea produced in Yunnan that has a reputation spanning the ages and all across the world. Its raw material is the primary Dian (Yunnan) green tea which is native to Xishuangbanna. Pu’er is the result of processing. Pu’er tea has a long history and the trade of Pu’er tea can be traced back as early as the Tang Dynasty.
普洱茶采用的是优良品质的云南大叶种茶树之鲜叶,分为春、夏、秋三个规格。春茶又分为“春尖”、“春中”、“春尾”三个等级;夏茶又称“二水”;秋茶又称为“谷花”。普洱茶中以春尖和谷花的品质最佳。
Pu’er tea is made from the fresh leaves of high-quality, large-leaved tea plant species in Yunnan and, it may be classified as either spring tea, summer tea or autumn tea according to its specifications. The spring teas can also be divided into three levels, including teas made in “the early spring”, “the middle spring” and “the late spring”; the summer tea is also called “Ershui” and the autumn tea is also called “Guhua”. Amongst Pu’er tea, “the tea made in the early spring” and Guhua are of the best quality.
在古代,普洱茶是作为药用的。其品质特点是:香气高锐持久,带有云南大叶茶种特性的独特香型,滋味浓强富于刺激性;耐泡,经五六次冲泡仍持有香味,汤橙黄浓厚,芽壮叶厚,叶色黄绿间有红斑红茎叶,条形粗壮结实,白毫密布。
In the ancient times, Pu’er tea was used as a medicine. Its characteristics include: intense, strong and long-lasting fragrance, a unique fragrance with the features of large-leaved tea produced in Yunnan, the mellow and strong flavor with pungent taste; it can also be boiled a number of times. After being boiled five or six times, the tea is still fragrant and the tea water is densely orange. The tea’s sprouts are strong and the leaf is thick. The tea leaves are yellow and green with red spots and red stems. Each tea leaf is thick and strong. They are densely covered with white fluff.
普洱茶的产区,气候温暖,雨量充足,湿度较大,土层深厚,有机质含量丰富。茶树分为乔木或乔木形态的高大茶树,芽叶极其肥壮而茸毫茂密,具有良好的持嫩性,芽叶品质优异。采摘期从3月开始,可以连续采至11月。在生产习惯上,划分为春、夏、秋茶三期。采茶的标准为二三叶。其制作方法为亚发酵青茶制法,经杀青、初揉、初堆发酵、复揉、再堆发酵、初干、再揉、烘干8道工序。
In the Pu’er tea producing area, the climate is warm and there is plenty of rain and a level of high humidity. Soil coverage is deep and thick, and is rich in organic matter. There are arbors and tall tea trees with stout and strong tea sprouts and dense fluff and fuzz. The tea is tender and the sprouts and leaves are of outstanding quality. The tea’s harvest period begins in March and can last until November. According to the production custom, tea can be divided into three varieties, including the spring tea, the summer tea and the autumn tea. The standard method of tea picking is taking two or three tea leaves. The manufacture process of Pu’er tea is a semi-fermentation green tea manufacturing method. There are eight procedures, including: deactivation of enzymes, initial kneading, initial fermentation, re-kneading, re- fermentation, initial drying, re-kneading and oven drying.
现在,普洱茶的种植面积很广泛,已经扩大到云南省的大部分地区,以及贵州省、广西省、广东省及四川省的部分地区,原属普洱县管辖的云南澜沧江流域的西双版纳傣族自治州、思茅等地是普洱茶的最主要产区,其中又以勐海县勐海茶厂的产量最大。
Areas for the cultivation of Pu’er tea are extensive and have expanded to cover most of the regions in Hunnan Province as well as some regions in Guizhou Province, Guangxi Province, Guangdong Province and Sichuan Province. Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture and Simao in the Lancang River Basin of Yunnan which were previously under the jurisdiction of Pu’er County are the leading producing areas of Pu’er tea, of which the Menghai Tea Factory in Menghai County has the largest output.
普洱茶有散茶与型茶两种。运销港、澳地区及日本。马来西亚、新加坡、美国、法国等十几个国家。
The Pu’er tea commons in two forms: loose and in packages. It is sold to Hong Kong, Macao as well as over ten other countries including Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, the USA and France.
