Simple direction complements: 

coming closer and going away

来: coming closer.

Example sentence:

你从哪里来？

wher do you come from?

去: going away

你到哪里去？

wher are you going?

 

up and down: 上 (shàng) and 下 (xià)

上: up

Example sentence:

他爬上了那座山。

He climbed up the mountain.

下: down

Example sentence:

他从山顶往下看。

He looked down from the top of the mountain.
