S: And a quick explanation before we have a drink. Remember my room is on the 14th floor, shi si lou. Lou can mean ‘floor' or ‘storey'.
M: And so can 层, ceng CENG ceng.
S: What floor is the bar on? Jiuba zai ji ceng?
M: Jiuba zai ji ceng.
S: 几JI ji, can mean ‘a few', as in ‘ji ge peng you', and sometimes it means ‘how many', as in ‘ji ceng?' ‘how many floors?', or, in this case, ‘what floor'. Jiuba zai ji ceng?
M: zai er ceng.
S: 一 二, 二层. Second floor.
