A Kite Runner in Xi'an

Zhang Tianwei（张天伟）, a transmitter of intangible cultural heritage(文化遗产) in Xi’an, has devoted(投入) himself to kite(风筝) making for 30 years.
西安的一位非遗传承人——风筝大师张天伟致力于风筝制作30年。
In 1952, 11-year-old Zhang was bewitched(着迷) by a story about special(特别的) kites that have dynamic(动态的) bodies. Unlike the traditional(传统的) kites, these dynamic ones

have three dimensions(部分) and can change(改变) their shapes(形状) in the sky. Zhang was determined(决定) to make such kites when he had a chance(机会).
1952年，有着动态身体的风筝故事让11岁的他着迷。与传统风筝不同，这些动态风筝有三部分，在空中可以变换形状。张师傅决定有机会一定要做个这样的风筝。

His kite in a shape of a three-dimensional green lantern won the first national prize in 1986, marking the official(正式的) start(开始) of his journey(旅程) in kite making.
1986年，他做的绿色的灯笼立体风筝第一次得了全国的奖项，从此他正式走上了制作风筝的道路。

One of his masterpieces(代表作) depicts the terracotta warriors, which has a length(长度) of 40 meters(米).
他的代表作之一“秦始皇铜车及秦俑军阵”风筝全长40余米。
