英国牛津大学校长安德鲁·汉密尔顿日前表示，牛津大学与中国的关系未来将进一步深化，牛津大学将设立一个促进中英学生交流的新项目，资助更多中国学生到牛津求学，同时推动牛津学生到中国学习。
 
据介绍，这一项目名为"利丰奖学金"，由香港冯经纶慈善基金资助，将从今年夏季开始，每年资助一些中国学生到牛津大学进行学习和研究, 也将为牛津学生到中国学习提供机会。
 
汉密尔顿表示，牛津大学与中国存在长期深厚的友谊，早在17世纪牛津大学就与中国有了往来，现在，双方更是在多方面展开了合作，值得祝贺。
 
Oxford's Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Hamilton said recently that the relationship between Oxford University and China would develop further as Oxford will set a new exchange scheme to fund more Chinese students to study in Oxford and promote the Oxford students to study in China.
 
The new exchange scheme named "The Li & Fung Scholarships". It is sponsored by the Victor & William Fung Foundation in Hong Kong. The scheme would start from the summer of 2011, it would allow students from China to undertake research placements at the University of Oxford and will also provide opportunities for students from Oxford to study in China.
 
Professor Hamilton emphasized that Oxford had "a very deep long-standing relationship" with China, which could be stretched back to the 17th century. And that connection now extends through many different aspects of activities. It is an event worth of celebrating.
