bào zhú shēng zhōng yī suì chú,chūn fēng sòng nuǎn rù tú sū。
爆 竹 声 中 一 岁 除, 春 风 送 暖 入屠苏。
qiān mén wàn hù tóng tóng rì, zǒng bǎ xīn táo huàn jiù fú。
千 门 万 户 瞳 瞳 日, 总 把 新 桃 换 旧符。

As the clattering crackers send away the old year,
A warm breeze of spring drifts into the cup of wine.
On a thousand doors, in the first rays of sunshine,
New pairs of tutelary deities in gaiety all appear.

When the Spring Festival arrives amid the explosions of the deafening and dazzling firecrackers, people one after another open their doors to greet the first breath of the spring breeze. Then they drink to their heart' s content Tusu Wine, put up the new colorful pictures of the tutelary deities as a talisman, expressing high hope for the new year as they bask in the bright sunlight. From the very first character to the last one, the poem affords the reader a panorama of the joyous traditional celebrations and customs during the Chinese Spring Festival.
