温家宝总理答记者问 Premier Wen Jiabao meets the press

第十一届全国人民代表大会第四次会议在圆满完成各项议程后，于3月14日在北京闭幕。会后，国务院总理温家宝在人民大会堂与中外记者见面并回答记者提问。

温家宝在回答"十二五"规划经济增长预期缘何下降0.5个百分点时强调，"十二五"期间，真正实现有质量和效益的7%的增长速度，并非是一件容易的事情。

温总理说，"主动调低经济发展的速度，不仅表明决心和意志，而且是一个重大的举措。就是说，在今后五年以至中国经济发展的相当长时期，我们要把转变经济增长方式作为主线, 充分利用这样一个机会，调整经济结构，使经济的发展与人口、环境和资源相适应。"

The National People's Congress (NPC) concluded its annual session in Beijing on March 14. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao gave a press conference after the closing meeting at the Great Hall of the People.

Premier Wen emphasized that it would not be easy to achieve a high-quality and efficient annual growth rate of 7% during the 2011-2015 period, even though it is a lower benchmark than the 7.5% growth target for the previous five years.

The lowering of the target not only demonstrates the government's determination, but also serves as a major move to transform the country's economic growth pattern," Wen said. "We should make full use of this opportunity to adjust the economic growth pattern and foster economic development suitable for the population, environment and natural resources."
