US Jury Orders Samsung to Pay Apple about 120m U.S. Dollars

A federal court jury in California found that Samsung had unlawfully used technology patented by Apple and ruled that the South Korean consumer electronics giant pay 119.6 million U.S. dollars in damages.

The mobile patent litigation between Apple and Samsung has lasted about three years. In 2013, the jurors ruled that Samsung violated several Apple patents and ordered that Samsung pay 930 million US dollars, but didn't order a permanent injunction against the sale of Samsung phones.

In the end, the jury determined that Samsung violated Apple's patents of slide-to-unlock technology and universal searching.

Samsung subsequently filed counterclaims against Apple, some of which the jury found credible and ordered that Apple pay 1.58 million US dollars in compensation to the South Korean company.
