Zhu Ziqing 朱自清

朱自清（1898—1948），原名自华，号秋实，改名自清，字佩弦；原籍浙江绍兴，生于江苏东海；现代著名散文家、诗人、学者、民主战士；其散文以朴素缜密，清隽沉郁、语言洗炼，文笔清丽，极富有真情实感，朱自清以他独特的美文艺术风格，为中国现代散文增添了瑰丽的色彩，为建立中国现代散文全新的审美特征，创造了具有中国民族特色的散文体制和风格；主要作品有《寻朝》、《踪迹》、《背影》、《欧游杂记》、《你我》、《精读指导举隅》、《略读指导举隅》、《国文教学》、《诗言志辨》、《新诗杂话》、《标准与尺度》、《论雅俗共赏》。
Zhu Ziqing (1898-1948), was originally named Zhu Zihua and had a pseudonym of Qiushi. He later changed his name to Zhu Ziqing and had a courtesy name of Peixian. With his ancestral origin in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, he was born in Donghai, Jiangsu Province. Being a renowned modern essayist, poet, scholar, and champion of democracy, his essays were plain and precise, fresh and elegant, refined and clear, and were rich in authentic feelings. With his unique artistic style, Zhu Ziqing added magnificent colors to and set up completely new aesthetic standards for modern Chinese essays, and created an essay style with distinctive Chinese characteristics; his major works include Looking for the Morning Sun, Traces, Retreating Figure, European Travel Miscellany, You and I, A Guide to Intensive Reading, A Guide to Skimming, Chinese Teaching, Discourse on Poems as a Vehicle of the Meaning, Miscellaneous Remarks on New Poetry, Standards and Yardsticks, and On Refined and Popular Taste.
