珍珍看到这一幕，知道小梅的心脏病犯了，她把手伸向床边的紧急按钮。然而，手却在空中停住了。看着地上痛苦挣扎的小梅，她突然有了另外一个念头。

时间一分一秒过去了，小梅发不出声音，只能用求助的眼神看着珍珍。而珍珍却慢慢把手收了回来，用被子蒙住了自己的脸。

当珍珍的脸再次从被子里露出来的时候，病房里已经安静得让人害怕。小梅躺在地上，一动不动。

这种安静让珍珍感到从未有过的恐惧，于是她迅速按下了按钮。。。

因为抢救得太晚, 小梅没有被救活。

小梅死后，她靠窗的病床空了出来。珍珍要求护士把她换到小梅的床上，这样，她就可以用自己的眼睛欣赏窗外的世界了。

几个护士满足了她的愿望，把她抬到新床上后, 就走开了。

珍珍急不可耐地坐了起来，伸着脖子向窗外看去。

可是，让她吃惊的是，窗外没有池塘，也没有公园，没有半只鸭子，也没有半个人。

有的，只是一堵高高的, 灰色的围墙。

[English Translation]
Outside of the Window [4]

Zhen Zhen watched the whole thing, she knew Xiao Mei was having a heart attack. She reached her hand out to the emergency button. However, her hand stopped in the mid air. Looking at the painful wiggling of Xiao Mei, she had a different idea.

Time passed by little by little. Xiao Mei could not talk anymore, all she could do was looking up at Zhen Zhen for help. But all Zhen Zhen did was to take her hand back, and to cover her face with her quilt.

When Zhen Zhen’s face emerged from her quilt again, the room had turned hauntingly quiet. Xiao Mei was lying on the floor motionlessly.

The quietness scared Zhen Zhen to death, she then pressed down the emergency button in no time…

Xiao Mei was not able to be revived due to the long delay before rescue.

Upon Xiao Mei’s death, her bed became vacant. Zhen Zhen asked the nurses to move her to Xiao Mei’s bed, so that she could enjoy watching the outside world with her own eyes.

The nurses satisfied her wishes. They moved her to the new bed and then left.

Zhen Zhen couldn’t wait any longer and sat herself up, she stretched her neck and looked outside of the window.

However, to her surprise, there was no pond and no park. Not even a duck, nor a human being outside of the window.

All that was there was only a wall that was tall and gray.
