贺新中国70华诞 China holds celebrations marking 70th anniversary of PRC founding

China held a grand celebration with a military parade(阅兵 yuèbīng) and a mass pageantry(群众游行 qúnzhòng yóuxíng) on October 1, the National Day, to mark the founding(成立 chénglì) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949.

 

Chinese President Xi Jinping and other national leaders oversaw the grand ceremony(典礼 diǎnlǐ) at Tian'anmen Square. President Xi delivered a major speech(讲话 jiǎnghuà) in the ceremony.

 

With over 15,000 troops attending the military parade and more than 100,000 people taking part in a mass parade afterward, this year's festivities were the largest National Day celebrations held in recent years.

 

Themed "Jointly Fulfilling the Chinese Dream," the mass pageantry presented the great journey in which the Communist Party of China has united and led Chinese people of all ethnic groups to stand up, grow rich and become strong, expressing the people's sincere praise and deep love for the Party and the motherland(祖国 zǔguó).
