Seeing Vice-Magistrate Du Off to his Post in Sichuan

From the capital around which th' old lands lie,

I gaze to the five ferry docks in haze.

The parting feels sad when we say goodbye,

For both left home and are on our post ways.

So long as there's a bosom friend for me,

The world's end seems the next door neighbor close.

At this fork road let us lovers not be,

To wet their handkerchiefs with tear outflows.

 

(1)少府：(shàofǔ), means an official position. 

(2)之：(zhī), means to go to;leave for. 　

(3)蜀州：(shǔzhōu), a place in Si chuan. 　　

(4)城阙：（chénɡquè）,means the watchtower in front of the palace, here refers specifically to Chang an, the capital of Tang dynasty.

(5)三秦：(sānqín), three places that around the capital of Chang An.

(6)宦游人:(huànyóurén), government official who far from hometown.

(7)海内：(hǎinèi), means at home.

(8)知己：(zhījǐ), means a bosom friends.

(9)天涯：(tiānyá), means everywher.

(10)若：(ruò), means as/like.

(11)歧路：(qílù), byroad,there is the place wher they seperate from each other

(12)沾巾：(zhānjīn), tears damp handkerchief.

 

该诗是送别诗的名作，诗意慰勉(wèimiǎn)勿在离别之时悲哀。起句严整对仗，三、四句以散调相承，以实转虚，文情跌宕(wénqínɡ　 diēdànɡ)。第三联“海内存知己，天涯若比邻”，奇峰突起，高度地概括了“友情深厚，江山难阻”的情景，千古传诵，有口皆碑。尾联点出“送”的主 题。全诗开合顿挫(kāihé　dùncuò)，气脉流通，意境旷达。一洗古送别诗中的悲凉凄怆(bēiliánɡ　qīqiānɡ)之气，音调爽朗，清 新高远，独树碑石。此诗一洗往昔送别诗中悲苦缠绵(bēikǔ　chánmián)之态，体现出高远的志趣和旷达的胸怀。“海内存知己，天涯若比邻。”两 句，成为远隔千山万水的朋友之间表达深厚情谊的不朽名句。

 

王勃，（649或650～675或676）唐代诗人，字子安，著有“滕王阁序”。绛州龙门（今山西河津）人。王勃的祖父王通是隋末著名学者，号文中子。父亲王福历任太常博士、雍州司功等职。王勃与杨炯、卢照邻、骆宾王以诗文齐名，并称“王杨卢骆”，亦称“初唐四杰”。
