徐光启(1562年4月24日-1633年11月10日),字子先,号玄扈,汉族,明朝南直隶松江府上海县人,中国明末数学和科学家、农学家、政治家、军事家,官至礼部尚书、文渊阁大学士。赠太子太保、少保,谥文定。徐光启也是中西文化交流的先驱之一,是上海地区最早的天主教徒,被称为"圣教三柱石"之首。
Xu Guangqi (Apr. 24th, 1562 - Nov. 10th, 1633), courtesy named Zixian, with the pseudonym of Xuanhu, with posthumous name of Wending, was of the Han nationality, a native of Shanghai, Songjiang during the Ming Dynasty, and was a mathematician, scientist, agriculturist, statesman and strategist in the late Ming Dynasty. He once served as a Minister of the Rites and was a great scholar of the Wenyuan Cabinet, and posthumously awarded honorary title of Junior Guardian (Grand Guardian) of the Heir Apparent. He was one of the ancestors in the cultural exchange between China and the West, and was the earliest Catholic in the region of Shanghai, being known as the head of the "Three Pillars of Chinese Catholicism".
