Han Xin 韩信

韩信（约公元前231年－公元前196年），淮阴（今江苏淮安）人，西汉开国功臣，中国历史上杰出的军事家，“汉初三杰”之一。曾先后为齐王、楚王，后贬为淮阴侯。为汉朝的天下立下赫赫功劳，但后来却遭到刘邦的疑忌，最后被安上谋反的罪名而遭处死。韩信是中国军事思想“谋战”派代表人物，被后人奉为“兵仙”、“战神”。“王侯将相”韩信一人全任。“国士无双”、“功高无二，略不世出”是楚汉之时人们对其的评价。
Han Xin (around 231 BC - 196 BC), born in Huaiyin(now Huai’an, Jiangsu province) is said to be the founding hero of the Western Han Dynasty, a prominent military strategist recorded in Chinese history and one of the “Three Heroes of the early Han Dynasty”. In recognition of Han’s contributions, Liu Bang conferred the titles of “king of Qi” on him in 203 BC and “king of Chu” in the following year. However, Liu Bang was afraid of Han’s abilities and gradually reduced Han’s military power, demoting him to Marquis of Huaiyin. In spite of his outstanding contribution to the Han establishment, he was suspected by Liu Bang and was sentenced to death in the name of rebellion in the end. Han Xin was a representative of the militants and was later lauded as “the solider lord” and “the solider saint”, and praised as “a great person of no parallel”, “person with the most accomplishment”, “a great person with the most outstanding tactics” by his contemporaries.
