　　之后 从杨家埠直接前往莱州和招远

　　headed for Laizhou and Zhaoyuan.

　　以前 我只知道潍坊是风筝的故乡

　　Before, we only knew Weifang

　　is home to kites,

　　却没有机会来体会

　　but never had a chance to see it

　　这究竟是一个怎么样的城市

　　and find out what it exactly looks like.

　　这次潍坊之行

　　The trip to Weifang

　　我才明白这个名字的含义

　　made us understand the true

　　connotations of its name.

　　走进潍坊

　　Entering Weifang,

　　风筝无处不在

　　we see kites all over the city.

　　独具匠心的风筝广场

　　We saw the uniquely designed

　　Kite Square

　　大型的风筝博物馆

　　and visited the large kite museum.

　　就连路灯也是风筝的形状

　　Even street lamps take the

　　shapes of kites.

　　潍坊人爱风筝 放风筝

　　Weifang residents love kites

　　and love flying kites.

　　还要自己做风筝

　　They even make kites themselves.

　　我和渊源也有幸在杨家埠

　　Yuanyuan and I had the

　　pleasure of making

　　民俗大观园亲手制作了风筝

　　a kite ourselves at the Folk Customs

　　Park in Yangjiabu.

　　Along the beautiful Golden Beach

　　all broadened our scopes of knowledge.

　　我跟她们跳舞呢

　　I'm dancing with them.

　　可是你跳的跟人家也搭不上啊

　　But your dance doesn't match theirs.

　　是啊 我学了半天还没学会呢

　　Right. I've been learning for quite

　　a while but haven't learned it.

　　想一下子就学会 谈何容易啊

　　Learning something soon is

　　no easy job.

　　汉武帝时

　　During the reign of Emperor

　　Han Wudi,

　　有一个叫东方朔的大臣

　　there is a minister called

　　Dongfang Shuo.

　　多次提出一些

　　On several occasions,

　　有益国家和百姓的建议

　　he offers suggestions to benefit

　　the country and the people.

　　但是总得不到皇帝的重视

　　But they have all received no

　　attention from the emperor.

　　于是 东方朔写了一篇文章

　　Thus Dongfang Shuo writes

　　虚构了一个故事

　　a fictional story.

　　有一位非有先生

　　There is a gentleman called Fei You.

　　在吴国当了三年大官

　　He serves as a high-ranking official

　　in the State of Wu.

　　却从不发表政见

　　But he never expresses his

　　political opinions.

　　国王很奇怪

　　Finding it odd, the king

　　就对他说

　　says to him:

　　先生如有高明的见解而不讲出来

　　"If you have any wise suggestions

　　and refuse to tell them to me,

　　就是对国家不忠

　　you'll be considered unfaithful

　　to our country.

　　如果讲出来我不采纳

　　And if you tell them to me and

　　I don't accept them,

　　就是我不开明

　　I'll be considered unwise.

　　先生什么看法也不谈

　　You refuse to tell me any of

　　your opinions,

　　难道是我不开明吗

　　is it that I am not wise?"

　　非有先生只是连连作揖

　　Mr. Fei You bows to the kind

　　several times.

　　还是不开口

　　But he still refuses to speak.

　　希望先生谈谈吧

　　"I hope you'll speak up.

　　我一定诚心听取

　　I'll definitely listen to you."

　　非有先生叹了一口气

　　After a long sigh, Mr. Fei You says:

　　夏朝的贤臣关龙逢

　　"Guan Longfeng, a loyal minister

　　of the Xia Dynasty,

　　再三向夏桀直言进谏 却被杀害

　　offered suggestions again and again

　　to King Jie, but he was killed.

　　商朝的忠臣比干

　　Bi Gan, a loyal minister of the

　　Shang Dynasty,

　　屡次进谏纣王

　　offered advice again and again

　　to King Zhou

　　也被杀害

　　and he was also killed.

　　这样看来 臣下向君主进言

　　This shows that it is no easy job

　　真是不容易的事啊

　　for a minister to offer suggestions

　　to a monarch."

　　当汉武帝看完了这篇文章

　　After reading this story,

　　Emperor Han Wudi

　　觉得东方朔是真的很想为国家做事

　　realizes that Dongfang Shu does

　　want to serve the country.

　　于是非常认真地听取了他的建议

　　Thus he seriously listens to him

　　and accepts his suggestions.

　　昨天我们又收到了北京的同事

　　Yesterday, we again received

　　some letters from
